ENVIRONMENT

Conserving precious natural resources and protecting air quality are more than a mere extension of Armstrong’s stewardship, but an ongoing focus for the sustainability of both our company and our planet.

environment

In an effort to minimize not only our year-over-year environmental impact, but also our clients’ and suppliers’ impact, we commit to making efficient use of all resources and reducing our carbon footprint through the following initiatives and partnerships:

Carb

In response to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations, we only engage CARB-compliant trucks within our fleet for any shipments going into or out of California and are actively acquiring additional CARB-compliant units. With other states expected to follow similar emissions-related regulations, we will continue proactive efforts to ensure our ability to service customer needs while protecting our environment.

Paper Reduction

Through ongoing technological enhancements and streamlining processes, we are significantly reducing our use of paper files and hard copy documentation, and in turn, lessening our carbon footprint. Most recent enhancements accounted for a 90 percent annual reduction of interstate move paper filing through web-based estimating, customer offer and order acceptance, inventorying, and electronic document filing.

Recycling

We endeavor to recycle corrugated cardboard, packing materials, cans, bottles and all other recyclable material. In conjunction with this initiative, our standard utilization of crates rather than cardboard boxes for all commercial projects has realized substantial reduction in carbon emissions and fuel usage.

Routing

We utilize centrally-dispatched operational resources to route drivers, equipment and crews in the most efficient manner possible. As a result, in self-servicing the majority of the 22,000 shipments entrusted to us annually, we are able to optimize efficiency while minimizing carbon emissions.

Smartway

As a U.S. EPA-certified SmartWay partner, a government/industry collaboration, we proactively seek to assist the federal government in greening the transportation supply chain. We are voluntarily accountable to achieve year-over-year improved fuel efficiency and reduced environment impacts from the transporting of goods. Our complying units save 2,000-4,000 gallons of diesel per year.

Green Standards

Our Green Standards partnership facilitates our clients’ ability to positively impact the environment and help others in need through the redistribution of corporate assets via in-kind donations to non-profit organizations. Clients in turn receive data on their environmental impact for reporting and certification purposes.

  • "We had an incredibly difficult move. Our driveway has a steep incline and very far from the street where the truck was. The team out on our move worked incredibly hard and was very positive in a difficult situation. They were amazing and an excellent group of guys.”
    G.K., April 2016
  • "Our driver, Mack, was extremely professional and courteous and took very good care of us through the process.  This was our first time to have a company move our belongings and he helped us through the entire process and made us feel very comfortable. Our things were packed well, treated with extreme care, and unpacked/put away just as carefully as they had packed them up.  We cannot say enough good things about our experience both with the move and with Mack!”
